Bob grew up in the central San Joaquin Valley of
California. After serving two years in the Navy in
the late 1960ís, he returned to Fresno State
University where he graduated with a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Agriculture.
In the early 1970ís, after a brief introductory stay
in Oregon, Bobís experience in viticulture began as
a vineyard foreman in the Columbia Valley of
southeast Washington. There he realized that
viticulture would be his passion and profession-
offering a way of life he knew was a perfect fit.
Returning to California, Bob completed with honors,
the viticulture program at Santa Rosa Junior
College, taught at that time by Richard Thomas.
After several years of being involved in managing
and developing vineyards in Sonoma County, he and
his wife, Kathie, chose to return to her native
state of Oregon to become part of the Oregonís
blossoming wine industry.
Within a few years, Bob established his own company,
managing and consulting with vineyards throughout
the Willamette and Umpqua Valleys. In the mid-1990ís
his focus became dedicated to Oregonís north
Willamette Valleyís premium vineyards and wineries.
Bob and his experienced team at Northwest Vineyard
Service have developed and manage many of the areaís

vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, showcases his
skills for aesthetic vineyard layout and the latest
